In Celebration of Excellence: A Tribute to Hal Dorf

A Tribute to Hal Dorf will be held on 25 September 2009 at Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan in the University Center.

All former students, classmates, associates and those who enjoyed the company of Mr. Dorf are invited.

Mr. Dorf grew up in Redford Township, and obtained his undergraduate degree at Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan, and his MBA at IMD (formerly IMEDE) in Lausaunne, Switzerland. He taught at NMU, led the student-driven study abroad programs, student internship programs and founded the Office of International Affairs.

Tribute:
5:30 PM – NMU Wildcats Homecoming parade; Mr. Dorf and his wife will participate.
6:30 PM – A Tribute to Hal Dorf begins with a cocktail social at the University Center at Northern Michigan University where Mr. and Mrs. Dorf will greet guests. An open cash bar will be available.
7:00 PM – Dinner (Advance tickets required)
8:00 PM – Dedication and Ceremony, with keynote speaker Dr. William Vandament, NMU President Emeritus.
9:30 PM – Social with music by Lou Vargo and Alton Kelly

Ceremony & Roast: The ceremony will be followed by a roast of Hal Dorf featuring Edward Havlik, former chairman of NMU’s board of directors, Dr. James Surrell of the Marquette General Health System Digestive Health Clinic and Matthew Surrell, former vice president of NMU public relations, as well as several international guests. Guests are invited to attend the after-dinner events at no charge; please register at www.HalDorf.com or contact an organizer.

Scrapbook: Everyone is invited to contribute to a scrapbook that will be presented to Mr. Dorf at the event. Student Sponsorships: Students are encouraged to apply for a limited number of sponsorships in the “Take a Student to Dinner” program established by Edward Havlik, former NMU Board of Control Chairperson to have their dinner ticket sponsored and be matched up with an attending international or national business leader.

Please consider sponsoring a student in the “Take a Student to Dinner” program. Sponsors have the option of attending dinner with a sponsored student.

Dinner Tickets: Dinner tickets are $45 per person ($25 per student), and must be purchased by September 15, 2009. If you miss the date, please contact an organizer listed below.
